Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has allocated N1 billion for the payment of gratuity arrears to local government workers and primary school teachers who retired in 2012.
This announcement was made by Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, in a statement on Sunday.
According to the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Amidu Takuro, beneficiaries will start receiving their payments from Tuesday.
Takuro mentioned that the release of funds aims to pay retirees’ gratuities in full rather than in installments. He emphasized that Governor Aiyedatiwa is attentive to the needs of retired civil servants.

He stated, āThe first tranche of the bulk payment of gratuity arrears was paid late last year by the immediate past governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. In continuation of this effort, Lucky Ayedatiwa, has decided not only to maintain this trend but also to make it a quarterly occurrence. He has been diligent in fulfilling his responsibilities regarding the payment of pensions, workers’ salaries, and other entitlements.ā
He encouraged the retirees and the entire workforce to support the administration led by Aiyedatiwa.
