The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has commenced nationwide protests over the removal of fuel subsidy.

The protesters on Wednesday converged at the capital of all the thirty-six states including the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. 

NRTC earlier reported that NLC gave the government a seven-day ultimatum with threats of a nationwide strike scheduled to commence today, August 2, 2023.

NLC yesterday in a statement by its President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, said no going back on the protest following a meeting with the Federal Government that ended in dreadlock.

Some inscriptions on the placards carried by the protesters including ‘Tinubu listen to Nigerians, not IMF and World Bank. Let the poor breathe.’

‘Save our industries, provide gas in naira not in dollars. Reduce the cost of governance now. Save the masses from poverty and hunger.’

As of press time, the nationwide protest is still ongoing across the country.
