President Bola Tinubu has extended his congratulations to Donald Trump on his re-election as the 47th President of the United States.
Trump secured victory in the U.S. presidential election, defeating Kamala Harris.
In a statement from his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed anticipation for strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and the United States in the face of today’s complex global challenges and opportunities.
“Together, we can foster economic cooperation, promote peace, and address global challenges that affect our citizens.”

President Tinubu stated that Trump’s victory reflects the trust and confidence the American people place in his leadership and congratulated them on their dedication to democracy.
Tinubu expressed optimism that, with Trump’s prior experience as the 45th president of the United States (2017-2021), his return to the White House as the 47th president would bring about a new era of meaningful, mutually beneficial economic and developmental partnerships between Africa and the United States.
Recognising the United States’ significant influence in shaping global events, Tinubu expressed confidence that Trump’s leadership would promote greater peace and prosperity worldwide.
