Djokovic, who had won the Australian Open and French Open in the 2023 season, was hoping to secure his record-equalling eighth Wimbledon singles championship.
Alcaraz looked shaky at the start, making a calamitous opening performance against the seven-time winner.
Alcaraz lost the first set 6-1 before staging an incredible comeback in the second. The younger player also ended Djokovic’s long-standing streak of 15 straight tiebreak wins to claim his first set.
He then overpowered Djokovic 6-1 in the third set to take great command of the match.
Djokovic was playing in his record 35th Grand Slam final.
