Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Layi Wasabi has issued an apology to Ekiti state-born chef, Dammy whose real name is Damilola Adeparusi for deriding her objective to break the Guinness World Record in the longest cooking category with a 120 hours target.
Earlier, NRTC reported that Wasabi clamoured for chef Dammy’s failure despite receiving support from chef Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef who is awaiting the Guinness World Record to verify her 100-hour cooking project dubbed Cook-A-Thon in May 2023.
At the time, the comedian and budding skit maker who has since deleted the tweet wrote,
“If your brand no fit talk am, My own brand fit Hence, If this attempt will take away the record away from you, God will make her fail!”

After receiving backlash from Twitter trolls, the skit maker on Monday afternoon published a tweet where he apologized for making a snide remark about Chef Dammy.
On his official Twitter account, Layi Wasabi wrote,
“No matter how I felt yesterday, It was very wrong to have wished Damilola failure – “dreams are unique to each individual”. I publicly apologize to her and everyone I let down with such outrage. I believe we are all God’s children and God blesses all”
Equally, chef Dammy a couple of days ago stunned Nigerians when she disclosed her intention to break Chef Hilda Baci’s unofficial 100-hour record in this category.
The Ekiti state-born chef, as of Monday, had been cooking for over 80 hours non-stop.
