Okpebholo: Edo will become envy of other states

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering with the federal government (FG) to drive development and position Edo as a model for other states.

The governor made this statement while receiving the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, during her courtesy visit to Government House, Benin City.

Governor Okpebholo expressed confidence in Mrs Madein’s leadership, commending her for the positive impact she has had on Nigeria’s financial system since assuming office.

“She is a ‘due process’ person, and her work ethic since her appointment proves that she is the right choice for the job. There has been significant improvement in the system, and she is doing exceptionally well,” the governor stated.

He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for his continued support and interest in Edo State, noting that the state has witnessed substantial progress under his administration.

“A lot of development has come to Edo, and we will make it the envy of all. With God’s direction and collaboration with the Federal Government, we will continue to transform our state.”

In her remarks, Oluwatoyin Madein stated that her visit was part of a nationwide assessment of Federal Pay Offices, which oversee treasury management for federal institutions in various states.

“We are reviewing Federal Pay Offices across the six geopolitical zones, selecting one from each zone for evaluation. Edo State was chosen from this region,” she explained.

She further revealed that the FG is constructing a new building to house the Federal Pay Office in Edo, modeled after the Treasury House in Abuja, to enhance financial operations in the state.
