Skales was one of the biggest names signed to Banky W’s record label, Empire Mates Entertainment in the late 2000s.

The rapper whose real name is Raoul John Njeng-Njeng stated that he became homeless after he left Banky W’s record label in May 2014.

He said he left the Banky W-owned record label penniless and contemplated relocating abroad before his song ‘Shake Body’ blew up and changed his life.

Skales disclosed this in a recent interview with Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos.

He said, “When I left EME, I had nothing. Everything just ended in one day. I went from enjoying a luxurious life to sleeping in the car. As soon as my deal ended, I lost the house, they [EME management] told me to leave the house immediately.”

“All I had was one car, a Ford Explorer. And I was sleeping inside the car for a long time. Little did I know that I had a song that was going to change my life on my flash drive. So months later, I just put out the song [‘Shake Body’]. I didn’t have any promo money, nothing. I just uploaded it on Soundcloud. And it was just a wildfire. It was crazy. I didn’t even know the song was big. I believed, but I gave up because I was trying to japa [relocate abroad]. Then I got a call from Harry Tee, God rest his soul. That was how my life changed.”
