The World Athletics have announced that the world records set by Tobi Amusan and two others at this year’s World Athletics Championships have been ratified, NRTC can confirm.
Amusan, alongside Mondo Duplantis and Sydney McLaughlin set World Record times in the women’s 100m hurdles, men’s pole vault and women’s 400m hurdles final respectively.
Also, an U20 world record set by Botswana’s Letsile Tebego was also ratified.
At the World Athletics Championships in Oregon earlier in the year, Amusan ran 12.12 sec in the women’s 100m hurdles semifinals to set a world record.
Amusan had sent a statement earlier in the heats of the Championships when she ran 12.40 secs. She followed that up with her 12.12 (0.9m/s) World Record the following day.
The 25-year-old broke the world record time of 12.20 that had been set by USA’s Kendra Harrison. The American had set the record in London in 2016.

Amusan even pushed further and sent the whole world into utter shock with an amazing time in the final.
She put up a remarkable and spirited performance with a wind-assisted 12.06 (2.5m/s) to win the final.
“The goal was to come out and to win this gold,” she said.
“Honestly, I believe in my abilities, but I was not expecting a world record at these championships.”
Meanwhile, Duplantis’s 6.21m in the men’s pole vault final has also been ratified. Same goes for Sydney McLaughlin’s 50.68 in the women’s 400m hurdles final.
According to the World Athletics, all are “now officially in the record books.”
Similarly, a statement on the official website of the World Athletics also states that “the world U20 mark of 9.94 set by Letsile Tebogo in the men’s 100m heats” has been ratified and is now officially a world record.
Recall that apart from the world record, Tobi Amusan also won gold in the Women’s 4×100m relay. Grace Nwokocha, Favour Ofili and Rosemary Chukwuma were the other runners for Nigeria.
