Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, has announced a review of the state’s security situation.
In a statement shared on his X page Thursday, Governor Diri revealed that the review took place during the 35th session of the state’s monthly Security Council meeting, which he chaired at the Government House in Yenagoa.
The governor emphasised his administration’s commitment to maintaining the peace and security currently enjoyed in the state through sustained strategic efforts.
Additionally, he condemned recent violent clashes between opposing factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa.
He reaffirmed the government’s zero tolerance for such acts of violence and barbarism, stating that any threats to the peace, lives, and property of citizens would not be tolerated.

The statement read: “Today, I presided over the 35th session of our monthly Security Council meeting at the Government House, Yenagoa. It was yet another meeting to review the security situation across the State with the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo and Security Commanders in attendance.
“While I commend the commanders for their hard work and sacrifices, we have further resolved to keep up with the strategies to sustain the prevailing peace and security in the State.
“In my opening remarks, I condemned the recent violent attacks involving the different factions of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, and as a government, we won’t condone such barbaric actions that threaten the peace of the state and the lives and property of our citizens. In this regard, I have directed the security agencies to go after those behind the unprovoked attacks.”
