Gmail rolls out new purchases tab for package tracking

Google has introduced a new Purchases tab in Gmail, making it easier to track packages and manage shopping-related emails this holiday season.

The feature, now rolling out globally, organizes all incoming deliveries in one place. It appears in Gmail’s left-hand menu alongside “Sent” and “Important.”

Users will see a clean list of expected packages, with tracking links and details for each order. Receipts and delivery updates are also grouped here.

This builds on Gmail’s existing order-tracking tool, but instead of scattering updates in the inbox, it centralizes shopping-related messages for convenience.

Google confirmed that the feature works on both mobile and desktop, with a layout designed for quick navigation during busy shopping periods.

Alongside this, the Promotions tab is being upgraded. Gmail will soon sort offers by “most relevant,” highlighting brands users engage with most frequently.

The Promotions tab will also provide nudges for time-sensitive deals, although Google has not detailed how this prioritization system determines relevance.

Users who prefer the current setup will still be able to sort the Promotions tab by “most recent” instead of Google’s personalized suggestions.

The Promotions update will first launch on mobile over the coming weeks, while the Purchases tab begins rolling out worldwide starting today.
