Tinubu celebrates Bamanga Tukur on his 88th birthday

President Bola Tinubu has praised Bamanga Tukur, the former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as a champion of good governance.

In a statement released by his media special adviser, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu extended his congratulations to Tukur on his 88th birthday.

He acknowledged Tukur’s “selfless and sacrificial” contributions to both Nigeria’s public and private sectors during his tenure as the former governor of the old Gongola state.

President Tinubu emphasized that Tukur’s enduring legacy of philanthropy and service to the nation, spanning various roles, is a testament to his visionary leadership. He also noted Tukur’s outstanding democratic achievements.

In his message, the president expressed his wishes for Tukur’s continued strength and good health, while also commending him for his unwavering commitment to advocating for good governance nationwideā€.

A part of the statement reads, ā€œAs the former General Manager of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and Minister of Industries clocks 88, the President affirms that his wealth of experience and wisdom, accruing through many years of serviceā€”most recently as the Executive President of the African Business Roundtable and Chairman of the NEPAD Business Groupā€”will always serve as an important resource pool for growth in Nigeria, and Africa,ā€ the statement reads.

Tukur quit partisan politics in 2015 on the occasion of his 80th birthday.
