Leading stories: EFCC declared Yahaya Bello wanted
Social media erupted this week as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) issued a wanted notice for Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, amidst allegations of financial crimes totaling N80.2 billion, NRTC WEEKLY confirmed.
The EFCC, through its verified social media account, posted a photo of the former governor labeled ‘WANTED’.
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that prior to this declaration, the EFCC had reportedly attempted to arrest Bello in Abuja, but was thwarted by the current Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo.
In response to the unfolding events, Nigerians took to social media to both praise Ododo’s loyalty and criticize his interference with the EFCC’s operations.
Ododo’s allegiance was hailed as exemplary, though as of the latest update, there is no information regarding the ex-governor’s arrest.
Business: FCCPC goes after food sellers
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Nigerians have praised the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) for conducting price monitoring and surveillance exercises in the market to deter unfair pricing practices.
Despite the appreciation of the Naira, Nigerians noted that some food vendors continued to sell goods at inflated prices, which they described as callous and inhumane treatment toward citizens.
They urge President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against anyone arrested and proven guilty.
Politics: Ondo APC primary today
NRTC WEEKLY learned that after days of campaigning, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State will today select its candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Reportedly, the aspirants, including the incumbent Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Olusola Oke, Ibrahim Jimoh, Wale Akinterinwa, and others, will vie for 171,922 votes.
The months-long rivalry to determine superiority will conclude today as party delegates cast their ballots in Akure, NRTC WEEKLY confirmed.
Metro: Jnr Pope
NRTC WEEKLY gathered that Nigerians are still grieving over the tragic death of Nigerian actor Jnr Pope. He lost his life in a boat accident on the Anam River in Anambra State while en route to the filming of the ill-fated movie ‘Other Side of Life’, produced by Adanma Luke.
His passing has stirred a profound sense of sorrow and indignation nationwide, as many Nigerians mourn the untimely loss of such a talented actor.
