Nothing’s latest Earbuds target Sony’s LinkBuds

Nothing’s New Earbuds Take Aim at Sony’s LinkBuds

Estimated reading time: 3 minutes

The Nothing’s new Ear (open) wearable stereo earbuds have finally hit the market and can be ordered now. The Nothing Ear (open) is intended for a perfect sound reproduction focusing on the environment’s conditions.

What stands out in the Ear (open) is the Open Sound Technology. This open design incorporates a Sound Seal System and directional speakers so that the sound will not leak out. The Nothing Ear (open) is sleek with each earbud made up of 8.1 grams of material. The company incorporated the three-point balance system and silicone ear hooks thus making it suitable for different ear shapes. The earbuds also have a Dual Connection that assists with easy mobility between devices, and a Low Lag Mode for gaming.

The Nothing Ear (open) is in the same concept as Sony’s LinkBuds but there are differences in design. Nothing Ear (open), as the name suggests, and Sony’s LinkBuds both feature open ear architecture and prioritize awareness over isolation. However, concerning sound delivery, they are different. Ear (open) is equipped with Open Sound Technology and the Sound Seal System to prevent sound from leaking out, while the Sony LinkBuds have a ring-shaped integrated speaker with a hole in the middle which allows for a combination of outside noise with the music played. Ear (open) came with other features such as ChatGPT integration and Clear Voice Technology and therefore not Sony’s ear offering. Notably, we have granted high review scores for Nothing’s previous earbuds, so there’s a pedigree here.

They are wireless and they feature a carrying case that has a battery having the capacity of delivering two hours of playback with a ten-minute charging period. It features eight hours of use on one charge and up to 30 hours total with the charging case. The Ear (open) also features a unique patent-pending diaphragm, a titanium-based finish and the lightest driver in its path. Such components also contribute to the minimization of distortion, and there is the automatic Bass Enhance to alter sounds for a better bass encounter. Battery-wise, the earbuds also have clear voice technology for improved call quality coming through the use of AI-assisted processing. Other than that the new integrated AI features have been added ChatGPT for the Ear (open).

Ear (open) pre-orders for the new Ear (open) product are available today in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, and across the world from the 1st of October, 2024. The official price of the earbuds will be $149 on the firm’s website.
