Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has visited the elder statesman Chief Reuben Fasoranti and leaders of the pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere.
During the Wednesday visit, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised their contributions to the development of the state and Nigeria, as disclosed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan.
The governor expressed that the purpose of the visit was to pay homage to the elders and leaders, thanking them for their fatherly role in restoring peace during the political crisis in the state.
“I extend my heartfelt greetings to Chief Reuben Fasoranti and the distinguished elders present. Your wisdom and guidance have been invaluable to our State’s stability. In the past, during challenging times, your intervention, particularly the letter you wrote to President Bola Tinubu advocating constitutional adherence, restored peace to our state. Your counsel has been instrumental.”

Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the elders of his commitment to organizing a dignified burial for the late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and continuing his ongoing development projects.
He also expressed dedication to upholding the former governor’s legacy and sought the elders’ support in his service to the people.
Oba Olu Falae, the Oluabo of Ilu Abo, stressed the importance of safeguarding the Yoruba language, urging the governor to collaborate with counterparts in the southwest to implement policies for its preservation.
The Oba commended Ondo State’s leadership, mentioning initiatives like the Amotekun security outfit, and suggested considering new road projects, particularly in rural areas.

Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa extended condolences to Governor Aiyedatiwa, emphasizing the elders’ commitment to the state’s welfare. He recalled the positive initiatives during Ajasin’s administration and urged the current governor to leave a lasting impact on the state.
“You are in charge now, take charge. Never forget those who stood by you during challenging times.”
Chief Reuben Fasoranti expressed the elders’ support and good wishes, offering a prayer for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership. He prayed for divine guidance, wisdom, success, and prosperity in the administration.
