The Nigeria Labour Congress has announced preparations for a nationwide protest scheduled on February 27 and 28, 2024.

The decision, revealed by NLC’s National President Joe Ajaero in Abuja, comes a week after the expiration of their 14-day ultimatum to the Federal Government, set to end on February 23.

Addressing journalists after an emergency National Executive Council meeting on the economy and security matters, Ajaero emphasized the urgency due to concerns about the impact of recent reforms, including the removal of the fuel subsidy and currency trading restrictions.

He said the Federal Government should not flout the deadline of the 14-day ultimatum.

The organised labour lamented that millions of Nigerian workers are facing hunger, erosion of purchasing power and insecurity due to reforms that drove up inflation.
