What are the Creative Arts Emmy Awards?
These awards are a class of Emmy Awards presented in recognition of technical and other similar achievements in American television programming. They are commonly awarded to behind-the-scenes personnel such as production designers, set decorators, video editors, costume designers, cinematographers, casting directors, and sound editors.The Creative Arts category includes additional awards for outstanding animated programs, commercials, and guest actors.

According to the Emmys Television Awards official page, the 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremonies honored outstanding artistic and technical achievement in television at the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in downtown Los Angeles. The event was a two-day event which ran from September 7 to September 8.
The ceremony awarded many talented artists and craftspeople behind this year’s best comedy, drama, limited series and television movies in such categories as cinematography, guest performance, production design, sound editing and stunt performance.
But in this article today, we will be looking at two Black women who bagged an award in the 76th Creative Arts Emmy Awards, celebrating their black girl magic.
1. Angela Bassett
The Black Panther actress has received nine Emmy nominations over the course of her career. But this year, she got to take one home her voice-over prowess.
Angela received the award for Best Narrator at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles. This happened during the first night of awards which was on September 7. The actress, 66 shared her new win as she took to her Instagram page to share the good news.
Angela Bassett bagged the award because of her voicing over art for the National Geographic docuseries Queens. Queens, a seven-episode limited series followed the concept of matriarchies and female leaders seen throughout all forms of nature.
Bassett is now halfway to earning an EGOT. She got an Oscar for receiving an honorary Academy Award earlier this year in January. The sky is the limit, go Black Queen.
