2 Nigerian styles that should influence your next cultural outfit

Estimated reading time: 2 minutes

If we don’t scream Nigeria’s prowess in fashion, who will? Every time you save a fashion style to sew, the next day, you’re seeing something better. Nigerian fashion designers have taken the time to infuse creativity into cultural outfits to create masterpieces.

Today, we will look at outfits worn by Nigerians that scream creativity. When you are getting a recommendation for a style your dressmaker can make for you, consider these styles.

1. Monochromatic bridal outfit

It is the season of bloom. This is where creativity means expertise. When I stumbled across this dress on Instagram, the 3D flower design took me in. The style was nothing out of the ordinary, but the detailing on the dress was everything. The beaded bag carried the detailing embodiment, a pure work of art. Her shoes carry the symmetrical circle sign all over. The outfit embodies a garden of blooming flowers. I love the monochromatic appearance of purple. A few years ago, I learned the color of the embedded flowers on the dress is called “wisteria.”

2. A corporate senator piece

Nigerian tailors have been hacking “senator material” into making seemingly corporate outfits. Whatever tailors add to their stew to create outfits made from senator material fit, almost every Nigerian man is one I’m yet to figure out.

This outfit goes as a corporate and cultural outfit to give a Yoruba demon vibe. The unique styling of the piece is the drape that extends from the collar area down to the chest. The body structure of the wearer also accentuates the beauty of the outfit. It is essential that when recreating this look, it is structured to suit your body type.
