2023: Battle line drawn for Tinubu, Obi and Atiku

Now that the major players in the political scene in Nigeria have known their Presidential candidates, the battle is now set for who occupies the number one seat in the land between Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

Not ruling out the chances of other presidential candidates of other political parties. But these three are seen as the frontrunners for the top seat in Nigeria for the upcoming 2023 general election.

The credibility of these men can’t be questioned having been in the public service space for over a decade, except for Obi who is a two term governor in Anambra State.

The fact remains that, politics is a game of numbers. So who will get the highest number of votes come 2023?

By this time next year, Nigeria will have another President in power. It won’t be a surprise if one of them emerge the winner of the election.

Peter Obi is gaining a lot of followers on social media

The social media has been no doubt a huge tool in the Nigeria influential space, especially in terms of politics and entertainment.

This could be the reason Peter Obi has been putting this to a good use. His support base has risen in a matter of days after he left the Peoples Democratic Party for the Labour Party.

“Whenever I hear of NO STRUCTURE, my answer to it is simple; the 100 million Nigerians that live in poverty will be the structure. The 35 million Nigerians who don’t know where their next meal will come from will be the structure,” Peter Obi responded in one of his tweets.

But the big question is, will that result into votes come next year? The obvious answer is no.

The social media campaign is good so far it is not of hate or some shrewd propaganda to smear the image of your opponent.

But can Peter Obi who against all odds emerged governor in Anambra, breaking the stronghold of the PD in the state do it again as a President? Time will tell.

Obi is said to have no structure to gather enough votes. But the former Anambra governor has claimed that his structure are those that have been disappointed by government in the past, most especially the youths.

Can Tinubu do the job?

Tinubu has the needed resources but his barrier will be his ill health should he emerge the President.

There have been videos on the internet that shows that this would pose a huge challenge for him.

He has the supports of 24 governors and that will definitely play a huge role in the outcome of the poll. Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello who recently collapsed his structure for him is a positive development.

When it comes to the game of number, the ruling party have it in quantum. So, Atiku and Obi stopping will need a lot of hard work.

What are Atiku’s chances?

Atiku is expected to pose a huge threat to the APC after emerging the runners-up to President Muhammadu Buhari in the last election. Garnering over ten million votes is not a mere feat.

With his health in check and everything seem perfect for him to run again, Atiku will pose a big threat to Tinubu.

The former VP already know how the game is played, but he will have to think ahead of a great strategist like Tinubu.

Can the clerics and entertainers be the third force?

There has been positive development from the church and entertainers that have been urging electorates to acquire the Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).

Judging from the concert held at the Tafawa Balewa Square by top Nigerian entertainers, it is expected that the number of registered voters will increase.

Not only about increment in the number but them going to the polls to cast their ballots.

The recent video of a pastor who stopped some people from attending the mass because they don’t have PVC speaks a lot. It means consciousness has now gotten to the church and there could be wind of change blowing very soon.

What is now left is for the youths and entertainers to participate in the process and not just commenting on social media.

Seeing pastors and entertainers on the ballots won’t be a bad idea.

To the church, prayer points will not turn to votes.

It is high time everyone eligible go to the polls and elect candidates our choice and have the Nigerian of our choice.
