Head Coach of Japan’s U20 women’s national team, Michihisa Kano has stated his worry about Nigeria’s Falconets ahead of his side’s round of 16 clash against the West Africans
Despite the Asian country being favourites, Kano says the Nigerian girls are a big challenge. He also stated that he understands the task ahead in the highly anticipated encounter.
Kano’s side enters the contest after dominating the group stage, winning all three of their matches. Meanwhile, the Falconets finished second in Group D with six points, trailing former champions Germany.

Nigeria defeated South Korea 1-0 and whitewashed Venezuela 4-0 in the group phase.
Kano acknowledged that tougher opponents lie ahead, including Christopher Danjumaās resilient Nigerian team.
“Winning all three matches was great, but we expect tougher duels from now on,” Kano told FIFA.com.
He emphasised the need for improved team chemistry and conditioning as they prepare for stronger opposition. “From here, every team will be strong, so we must be fully prepared,” he added.
Japan finished as runners-up during the last edition of the tournament held in Costa Rica two years ago.
The match between Japan and the Falconets will take place at Estadio El Techo in Bogota. Fans in Nigeria can catch the action at 2 a.m. on Friday morning.
