Ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya on Friday, 20 Super Eagles players participated in their first training on Tuesday evening.
The Super Eagles are set to take on the Mediterranean Knights of Libya in their next two qualifying games.
Friday’s encounter is a home game scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

The players who trained on Tuesday are Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Benjamin Tanimu, William Troost-Ekong, Amas Obasogie, Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, Bruno Onyemaechi, Wilfred Ndidi, and Victor Boniface.
Others are Taiwo Awoniyi, Alhassan Yusuf, Ola Aina, Moses Simon, Ademola Lookman, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Frank Onyeka, Raphael Onyedika, Samuel Chukwueze, and Calvin Bassey.
Victor Osimhen won’t be available for the double-header against Libya due to an injury. The striker hinted that he will be back to playing football after the international break.
In their first 2025 AFCON qualifying match, Nigeria defeated West African neighbours Benin Republic 3-0. A draw in the second qualifying game means Nigeria sit top of Group D with four points heading into matchday three.
Benin are second on the group table with three points, Rwanda follow closely with two, while Libya occupy bottom spot having gained only one point.
Nigeria finished second in the most recent AFCON tournament after losing to host nation Cote D’Ivoire back in February.
The Super Eagles have won the AFCON thrice – 1980, 1994, and 2013.
