In their first 2025 AFCON qualifying match, Nigeria defeated West African neighbours Benin Republic 3-0. A draw in the second qualifying game means Nigeria sit top of Group D with four points heading into matchday three.

Benin are second on the group table with three points, Rwanda follow closely with two, while Libya occupy bottom spot having gained only one point.

Nigeria finished second in the most recent AFCON tournament after losing to host nation Cote D’Ivoire back in February.
