5 kinds of business you can venture in as a university student


If you have been wondering how to get extra income as students, then you will find these business ideas useful.

1. Thrift clothes

These days, students are looking for cheaper and casual wears, something simple, something less flamboyant. You can get nice wears in bulk and start selling to students at affordable prices.

2. Liquid soap

Students need liquid soap to wash their clothes , pots, and plates. Here is what Christiana Agah, a sophomore at the University of Ibadan, has to say:

“My mom’s friend taught me how to make it before I entered school because I wasn’t good in catering and tailoring. She felt I could use liquid soap business to support myself in school. Liquid soap is the only trade I did and got right. Later on, I grew interest in it and began to learn more about it, learned about the transparent liquid soap method, online and with thousands of YouTube videos. Then I saw other people making bastard money from it and decided to fully take it on.”

3. Food delivery business

If you are good at cooking, you can start offering your service to students who need it. And when people start complimenting how delicious your food tastes, perhaps it is time you started cooking. It costs little or nothing to start. Most times, you will collect money from them before cooking the food.

4. Selling data

Students need data to be online, for writing assignments, or for connecting with friends and families. You can leverage this by selling SME data in affordable prices to them. With as low as five thousand naira, you can start this business.

5. Coaching/Teaching

For students who are not good at selling stuff, you can start teaching some subjects and courses that you are very good at in tutorial centres. You only need to start from a tutorial centre and aggressively demonstrate that you are excellent at what you do. In time, other tutorial centres will find you.
