We shall not give in to evil people – Buhari
In his statement, President Muhammadu Buhari said that the country would not give in to evil and wicked people. He said, āI condole with families of the Catholic Church, and the government of Ondo State. I charge emergency agencies to swing into action, and bring succor to the wounded. No matter what, this country shall never give in to evil and wicked people, and darkness will never overcome light. Nigeria will eventually win.ā
Freedom of religion cannot be negotiated ā Pastor Akinlabi
On his part, the Senior Pastor of The Elevation Church, Godman Akinlabi, said that the freedom of religion cannot be negotiated. He said, āThe news report of the gruesome murder of worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State by unknown gunmen is highly condemnable. Our freedom of association and religion cannot be negotiated. Hence, the perpetrators must be brought to book. My deepest condolences go to the families whose hearts are broken. May God comfort their hearts.ā
Letās fight for our survival – Aisha Yesufu
Human rights activist, Aisha Yesufu said that the people should fight for their survival. She said, āFellow citizens, we are on our own, we have no one but each other. We have to fight for us! Enough of fighting for the political class! Many have died! Too much blood has been shed! Letās come together and fight for our survival.ā
Nigeria is fast becoming a failed state ā Peter Obi
In his opinion, Labour Party candidate in the 2023 presidential elections, Peter Obi said the country is fast becoming a failed state. He tweeted, āWhat happened in Owo today again adds to my position that our country is fast becoming a failed state. All must join hands in saving our country from this existential situation we find ourselves in today.
āI sympathize with the victimsā families, the Catholic Diocese of Ondo, the people and the government of Ondo State.” Also, he urged the Federal Government and Ondo State Government to bring the perpetrators to book.
Our leaders are adamant – Mr Macaroni
Skit maker and activist, Debo Adedayo, aka Mr Macaroni vehemently condemned the killings. He said, āNigerians are getting killed and the so called leaders are doing absolutely nothing about it. What is the solution to this madness? Because we donāt know who is next tomorrow. Nobody is safe. Nigerian government, our people are dying. If dem kill us finish, who will you govern?ā

This is a trying time for people of Ondo State and Nigerians in general. Insecurity has become a reoccurring issue in the country. Hence, as the people of Owo mourn, we can only hope that there will be light at the end of the tunnel. May the dead find rest. Amen.
