At one point or the other, the lovey-dovey feelings we experience can be cut short when we least expect it. Life happens. And when it does, do we give up? Definitely not. We look for ways to overcome our problems and move on.

1. Allow yourself to cry:
As humans, there are moments that call for us to exhibit that soft side of us. Crying helps to expedite healing and one must not bottle up the tears. Admit your āālossāā and mourn the whole process. Do not hold back.
2. Do not brood over it
Many do not come out of heartbreak easily because they dwell on it. Once the tears are dried, pick yourself up together and think about ways to move on. with your life. One exit will lead to an open door.
The memories won’t fade away in an instant. However, you should steer clear of any triggers that may lead you back to your ex. For example, don’t keep looking at old pictures as this will only delay your healing process.

3. Connect with people who care about you
For your healing to be fast, it is paramount that you hook up with friends who have your best interest at heart. One or two sincere friends will suffice. Open up to them and let go of every hurt you may still be feeling. A break-up is not the end of the world; life goes on.

4. See the positive side
When you experience a break up, imagine the positive side of things. Imagine what you could be doing now that you were not doing in that relationship. Think of the many opportunities that await.
5. Do not shut your heart entirely
It is possible to remain good friends with an ex. Some relationships even go on to experience a new lease of life. However, you must make sure that you have healed completely and addressed the issues that led to the break-up in the first place.
Moreover, you must also open up your heart to the possibility of finding love again with someone new. After all, in the famous words of D’Banj, ‘love is a beautiful thing’.
Healing is only a matter of time. Give it time and your heart will become cheerful again.
