Reality shows in Nigeria have helped to groom talents in the country over the years. When the names of some entertainers are called, one can comfortably give credit to certain reality shows for pushing the person to limelight. Let us take a look at some of these celebs.
Ebuka Obi-Uchendu
Media personality, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, came into limelight after he participated in the first season of Big Brother Naija reality show in 2006. Although he did not emerge as winner, he made use of the platform to penetrate the entertainment industry.
In 2011, he co-hosted Nigeriaās first presidential debate in 2011 alongside renowned author, Chimamanda Adichie. He is the first former housemate of BBN to host the show.

Yemi Alade
Singer, Yemi Alade, came into limelight after she won the Peak Talent Show in 2009. She went ahead to build a career in the music industry after she signed to Effyzie music. She released her debut hit song, āJohnnyā in 2014 and other hit songs over the years.
Mercy Eke
A former Big Brother Naija housemate, Mercy Eke, gained fame after she became the first female winner of the show in 2019. She has made statements with her fashion sense and has also bagged some mouth watering endorsement deals. She won the Best Dressed Award at the 2020 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.
Iyanya
Singer, Iyanya Mbuka, won the first edition of Project Fame West Africa in 2008. That was the platform he needed to penetrate the music industry. After he left the show, he has released some hit songs including āKukereā and āYour Waistā.
Amarachi
Singer and dancer, Amarachi Uyanne, gained fame as an eight year old dancer on Nigeriaās Got Talent in 2012. She warmed her way to the hearts of Nigerians and won the prize of ten million naira. Asides dancing, she delved into the music industry with songs like āAmarachi Danceā and āOversabiā featuring Phyno.
Mercy Chinwo
Popular gospel singer, Mercy Chinwo, won the Nigerian Idol show in 2012. She did not relax on that feat as decided to use her voice to praise God. She has released several hit songs including āExcess Loveā, āObinasomā, āIgweā, among others. About two months ago, she got married to Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa of Waterbrook Church.
Laycon
Singer, Olamillekan Agbeleshe, aka Laycon, came into limelight after he won the Big Brother Naija Lockdown edition in 2020. He said that he went into the show to promote his music. Since he left the show, he has released some songs and also bagged ambassadorial deals for various notable brands.
