Let us take a look at shows that won big at the 76th Primetime Emmys Awards.
Baby Reindeer
I should say Baby Reindeer was a masterpiece and solely because it was written and directed by Richard Gadd, whom the movie was based on. It was a reflective movie that sucked the audience, winding us all up in Richard’s emotions.
It is no surprise that the show bagged four awards at the 76th PrimeTime Emmy Awards. According to the BBC, the show’s creator and star, Scottish comedian Richard Gadd, won three of those – for acting in, writing and executive producing the show. The last award the show was based on Martha’s character played by Jessica Gunning as the best supporting actress in a limited series.
The show has a total of 6 Emmy wins out of 11 nominations. Two of Emmy Awards were earlier bagged at the Creative Arts Emmy 2024 for Outstanding Casting for a Limited or Anthology Series or Movies and Outstanding Picture Editing For A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie.
Even though the real- life Martha is suing Netflix, one cannot help but appreciate Richard Gadd’s tenacity in telling such a challenging experience without watering the truth from his POV.
As reported by the NBC Los Angeles ,Richard Gadd in his speech at the award ceremony in Los Angeles said, āthe only constant across any success in television is good storytelling. Good storytelling that speaks to our times. So take risks, push boundaries. Explore the uncomfortable. Dare to fail in order to achieve.ā
ShÅgun
Truth be told, I have not watched ShÅgun but its voluminous Emmys wins is enticing me to watch it. It bagged a total of 18 Emmy wins just for its first season!

The record for the drama series with the most wins in a single year was previously held by Game of Thrones and the limited series. John Adams had held the overall record for the most wins by a TV program in a single year with 13 wins.
Anna Sawai (ShÅgun) became the first Asian actress to win in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category at the Emmys and the first Japanese actress to do so.
Hiroyuki Sanada (ShÅgun) became only the second Asian actor to ever win in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category and he also became the first Japanese actor to ever win in this category.
According to the AP News, ShÅgun,ā the FX series about power struggles in feudal Japan, won best drama series.
