Defending champions Remo Stars continued their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign in style with a commanding 2-0 victory against Wikki Tourists on Monday.
The Sky Blue Stars showed composure from start to finish to solidify their intention and ambition to retain the crown.
From the first whistle, Daniel Ogunmodede’s men dictated the tempo and created several chances. Their persistence paid off in the 79th minute when they broke the deadlock through Malian striker Adama Goita’s well-taken strike.

Wikki Tourists, however, refused to roll over. They pushed forward in search of an equaliser, testing Remo’s backline on a few occasions. Despite their efforts, the champions remained organised and looked threatening on the counter.
Oyowah strikes late to seal victory
As the clock ticked toward full-time, Wikki intensified their pressure. Yet, it was Remo Stars who struck again in the 90th minute. Substitute Alex Oyowah reacted quickest to a costly error by goalkeeper Chizoba Okoh, who spilled Chilekwu’s free kick. With composure, Oyowah slotted home from close range to end the contest.
The result gave Remo Stars more confidence in their title defense as they combined clean sheet discipline with attacking precision. On the other hand, Wikki Tourists encountered a night of frustration and missed opportunities, but they will look to bounce back quickly in their next fixture.
