ABC Transport earns N926.8m profit on rising revenue

ABC Transport Plc has reported a pre-tax profit of N926.8 million for the nine months ending September 2025.

The company’s unaudited financial results showed that profit after tax grew 363% year-on-year to N585.6 million. This increase was supported by revenue expansion, improved cost efficiency, and stronger income from other operations.

Revenue rose by 48% to N11.9 billion from N8.05 billion in 2024. This was driven mainly by growth in load, waybill, and haulage income. Load and waybill services generated N3.67 billion, while haulage operations contributed N3.60 billion. Passenger transport accounted for N2.3 billion, with other income sources making up the balance.

Although direct costs increased by 46% to N9.38 billion due to higher fuel, maintenance, and operational expenses, gross profit improved to N2.54 billion. This was an increase of 55.6% from N1.63 billion in 2024.

Administrative expenses stayed nearly flat at N1.69 billion compared to N1.67 billion a year earlier. Other operating income rose 37.2% to N424.8 million, driven by franchise income of N343.1 million.

Finance costs declined to N299.5 million from N362.4 million in 2024. This further strengthened profitability. After a tax charge of N341.2 million, net profit stood at N585.7 million, compared to N126.3 million in the prior year.

ABC Transport’s total assets surged 97% to N13.97 billion as of September 2025, up from N7.08 billion in 2024. Property, plant, and equipment valued at N10.1 billion represented the largest share of total assets.

Liabilities also rose to N12.11 billion from N6.54 billion. This reflects higher trade payables, borrowings, and contract obligations. Shareholders’ equity, however, strengthened to N1.8 billion from N540.1 million. This was supported by improved retained earnings of N33.3 million, compared to a deficit of N967.1 million a year earlier.

The transport company’s improved financial position highlights sustained recovery in Nigeria’s intercity transport sector. This recovery occurs despite rising operational costs and competitive pressures.
