Nigerian security operatives have arrested Nollywood actor and filmmaker Stanley Amandi over his alleged involvement in a plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to Premium Times, Amandi was taken into custody following investigations that uncovered an alleged plan involving some military officers to destabilise the current government.
Furthermore, security sources claim the actor was recruited to assist the group in a propaganda capacity. However, details of his exact role remain unclear.

The alleged plot was said to have been uncovered during an intelligence-led operation by the Defence Headquarters.
The agency has since concluded preliminary investigations into the matter. While the military officers involved are expected to face court-martial proceedings, civilians linked to the case, including Amandi, are reportedly to be prosecuted in civil courts.
As of the time of filing this report, Amandi has not publicly responded to the allegations. Authorities have also reiterated that the accusations remain allegations until proven in court.
