Adekunle Gold receives plaque for becoming first artiste to sell out Wole Soyinka Centre

Nigerian singer Adekunle Gold has recorded a major career milestone after becoming the first musician to sell out the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts, formerly known as the National Theatre, Lagos.

The achievement was sealed on Friday, December 26, 2025, when the artiste sold out the 3,560-capacity venue for his headline concert.

In recognition of the feat, Adekunle Gold was presented with two plaques on Thursday, January 1, 2026. One plaque honoured him as the first artiste to headline and sell out the theatre, while the second was awarded to the management and record label responsible for organising the concert.

The show featured performances from Olamide, while other notable figures in attendance included Yinka Ayefele and Adewale Ayuba.

Reacting to the achievement via his Instagram page, Adekunle Gold expressed gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support.

He wrote, “Thank you all for a great end to 2025. Where should I bring the Fuji experience to?”

Several Nigerian celebrities, including Davido, Brother Shaggy, Timi Agbaje, Obaksolo and BBNaija star Imisi, took to the comment section to congratulate the singer on the landmark accomplishment.
