Adeleke bags honorary doctorate, pledges renewed commitment to citizens

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reaffirmed his dedication to public service, crediting God and the people of the state as the foundation of his political journey and that of the Adeleke family.

He spoke at the 11th undergraduate and 7th postgraduate convocation ceremony of a university held on Sunday at its newly constructed stadium where he received an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

In his acceptance speech, he said the recognition served as a renewed challenge to intensify his efforts as a people-focused leader.

“This honour comes at a critical time for our administration and for Osun State. We have served diligently for nearly three years, proving that good governance is possible when guided by political will and genuine concern for the people,” he said.

Adeleke highlighted the achievements of his administration, noting that innovation, sacrifice, and creative thinking had driven progress across various sectors.

He described the people’s welfare as both his starting point and constant motivation.“Osun people are our greatest strength,” he stated.

“In every genuine democracy, the people determine power. Their votes and support remain our biggest assets, and we are deeply grateful for their unwavering love across every part of the state.”

The convocation was attended by notable dignitaries including the university’s Pro-Chancellor, Dr Adedeji Adeleke; the matriarch of the Adeleke family, Yeyeluwa Modupeola Adeleke-Sani; Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun, who served as commencement speaker; and members of the Osun State Government.

Governor Adeleke pledged to treat the honorary degree as a renewed call to service, promising to “push harder” to deliver development across the state.

“We will not waver in our commitment to take Osun to greater heights, both now and in the years to come,” he vowed.
