Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on residents to vote against the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the August 15 governorship election.
He warned that a return of the opposition would reverse the gains recorded under his administration.

In a statement issued ahead of the poll, Adeleke appealed to voters to remain steadfast and support his government, saying the election offers an opportunity to preserve the state’s progress and protect the welfare of its people.

The governor accused the APC of inflicting hardship on residents during its time in office, alleging that the previous administration impoverished workers through policies such as the payment of half salaries to civil servants.
He said his administration would not allow the state to return to what he described as an era when workers struggled to meet basic needs because of unpaid and reduced salaries.
Adeleke urged eligible voters to turn out in large numbers on 15 August and back his administration’s vision of continued development, compassionate leadership and good governance.
He maintained that the election would determine the future direction of the state and called on the electorate to defend what he described as the people’s mandate by ensuring the APC does not return to power.

With the election drawing closer, the governor’s appeal appeared aimed at consolidating support among civil servants, pensioners and other residents by highlighting his administration’s record on workers’ welfare and the prompt payment of salaries and other entitlements.
