Nigerian singer Banky W has shared that his relationship with his wife started in a surprising way, saying it was actually his wife who took the step that led them into marriage.

In a recent interview with Teju Babyface, he explained that he showed interest in her early on, but she did not respond in a romantic way at the time.

According to him, she kept him as a friend for a long period, and he later stopped trying to force the relationship forward. He said he turned to prayer during that period, hoping things would change naturally.

He added that after more than a year, things shifted when Adesua Etomi-Wellington contacted him and began to see him in a different way.

He said she eventually referred to him as her husband, which marked the start of a deeper relationship that later led to marriage.

“Adesua was actually the one who asked me to be her husband. She kept me in the friend zone for a long time, so I stopped pushing and simply prayed to God to touch her heart. After a year and a few months, she finally called me ‘my husband’, and that’s it”, he said.

Adesua also spoke about their marriage, explaining that they have been together for about ten years and still maintain a close bond. She described their daily life as affectionate, saying they often hold hands and even sleep with physical closeness.

She further mentioned that she once had personal views about not wanting to marry people in certain careers like acting, ministry, or politics.

However, she said her husband turned out to be involved in all three areas, which she now sees as part of how her life unfolded.
