AFCON 2022: Ghana on the brink of elimination

Ghana

Ghana is on the brink of being eliminated from the group stage of the 2022 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

This is following the 1-1 draw played against Gabon who had won their opening game against Comoros. Going into the clash against Ghana with three points while the Black Stars had earlier suffered a 1-0 loss against Morocco.

Morocco secured the last 16 ticket after a 2-0 win over Comoros and as things stand, Morocco top Group C with 6 points while Gabon is second with 4.

Ghana last group match against Comoros will now determine their fate. Anything less than a victory will see the Black stars eliminated in the group stages.

Jim Allevinah’s late equaliser rescues a point for Gabon, leaving Ghana on the brink of elimination after Andre Ayew scored a screamer from outside the box to give Ghana a first half lead against the run of play in a lacklustre first half.

The match disgracefully ended in a brawl that saw Ghana’s Benjamin Tetteh sent off. Gabon and Arsenal captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang also missed the game due to a minor heart condition.
