Nigerian disc jockey and producer, DJ Neptune, has raised concerns about the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence in music, warning that it could soon replace human music producers.

His reaction follows a similar claim by media personality N6, who had earlier predicted that AI could disrupt the entire music production and mastering industry.

DJ Neptune recounted a recent experience where he was impressed by a song sent to him for review. According to him, he was so convinced by the quality that he advised the sender to sign the supposed artiste, only to later discover that the track was created using AI.

N6 had written via X, “AI is Quietly about to retire the entire music production and mastering Industry. I have seen scary tinz tonight. God help all of us in this ecosystem.”

Reacting, DJ Neptune said, “I dey tell you. Someone sent me a record to listen to some days ago and give me my feedback.

“After listening, I told the guy to sign the artist cos what I heard was out of this world. That’s how my guy said na AI work. E shook me o.”

Artificial Intelligence is increasingly gaining ground in music production, with both emerging and established artistes, producers, and sound engineers using AI tools to improve beats, vocals, and overall sound quality.

In response to this shift, the Recording Academy has revised its rules, allowing songs that include AI elements to qualify for the Grammy Awards, provided there is significant human input.

Despite these developments, debates continue within the industry, as some stakeholders insist that music should remain “human,” raising concerns about originality, authenticity, and ownership.
