Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has called on residents, security agencies, and other stakeholders to lend their full support as construction and channelization of water supply projects commence across the state.
Aiyedatiwa’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, in a statement, said he disclosed this during a stakeholders’ meeting in Akure on Tuesday, where he discussed the urban water reform and Akure water supply and sanitation project.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasised that the initiative goes beyond just providing clean water; adding that it aims to create job opportunities and improve sanitation.
āThis project is not just about delivering clean water; itās about transforming our state. We need the support of every resident and stakeholder to ensure the success of this initiative. Itās a comprehensive effort aimed at enhancing hygiene and generating employment opportunities.ā
He further highlighted plans to install modern toilet facilities in strategic locations, promoting better hygiene and enhancing the stateās aesthetic appeal.

Kehinde Adebayo, the Technical Consultant for the project, outlined the technical approach: āWe will repair and revitalize all previously abandoned mechanical equipment, treatment plants, storage facilities, and pipelines. This thorough approach will ensure a reliable and efficient water supply system.ā
Comrade Solomon Adelegan, Chairman of the Grievance and Dispute Committee, assured the public: āWe have engaged with all affected individuals and structures in the project areas. We are working closely with them to ensure a smooth commencement and minimize any disruptions.ā
