Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the successful completion of federal road projects in the state, emphasising the pivotal role of infrastructure in driving economic growth and development.
He made this remark on Thursday during the working visit of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for the second interactive session on the Ondo State axis of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
The meeting, held at the Government House in Akure, followed an initial stakeholders’ meeting on October 31, 2024, to review the project’s progress.
Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for increasing the federal presence in Ondo State through numerous infrastructural projects, including the ongoing Ore-Ondo-Akure dualisation, the federal teaching hospital, and the newly established aviation school, among others.
He said: “We have not had it so good in recent times with federal projects in our State. Permit me to mention but a few: the Akure – Ore Dual Carriageway, the Akure – Ado Ekiti Dual Carriageway, the Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway, and the Federal University of Technology Teaching Hospital, Akure”.

He emphasised the urgency of completing these projects, highlighting their potential to stimulate economic activities in both the State and the broader South-West region.
Additionally, he called for increased federal support to fast-track critical initiatives, including the Ondo Deep Sea Port and efforts to curb the Ayetoro sea incursion.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the Minister of Works that the Ondo State Government would create a conducive environment for the seamless execution of these projects.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the successful completion of these projects for the benefit of our people. In this regard, I pledge the unwavering support and dedication of the Ondo State Government,” he declared.
While addressing stakeholders, the Minister of Works, David Umahi, provided an update on the planned execution of the 71km stretch of Ondo State in the ongoing Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
He commended the state government and its people for their unwavering support, affirming that all necessary preparations for the project’s execution had been completed.
Umahi also lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa’s dedication to the State’s infrastructural development and assured that all Federal road projects in Ondo would receive expedited attention.
Furthermore, he announced that the federal government would soon shift its focus to implementing the Aiyetoro shoreline protection project.
