Akwa Ibom Gov Umo Eno dumps PDP for APC

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and officially joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending weeks of speculation about his next political move.

The announcement was made on Friday in Uyo, the state capital, where the governor revealed that the decision came after three months of discussions with political figures and groups across the state.

According to him, the move was carefully considered and came only after he had listened to the views of various stakeholders involved in the state’s political affairs.

Before the public declaration, the governor had already submitted his resignation from the PDP to his ward chairman.

He also sent copies of the letter to the party’s leadership at both state and national levels.

He appreciated the PDP for the platform it gave him to serve as governor over the past two years and expressed gratitude for the relationships built during his time in the party.

Eno explained that he did not take the step without speaking to the people who matter in the political structure of Akwa Ibom.

He noted that his final round of consultations was held on Thursday night with senior members of the PDP.

He stated that listening to different opinions was important for him, especially on a matter that would affect the future direction of his administration.

The governor said he decided to move to the APC due to the changing political environment and the need to adapt to current realities.

He said it is better to work with the flow of political events rather than resist them.

He made it clear that his choice was based on careful observation of recent developments and what he believes is best for the state moving forward.
