Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has suspended his Special Adviser on Documentation, Research, and Planning, Mkor Aondona.
His suspension followed his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of sextortion, cyberbullying, and blackmail.
The governor ordered the immediate and indefinite suspension of the aide, stressing that the action aligns with his administration’s firm stance on integrity, accountability, and discipline in public office.
Governor Alia emphasised that any official in his government found guilty of criminal behaviour or ethical misconduct would face the full consequences of the law without exception.

“Public office is a call to serve with honour, transparency, and responsibility. Anyone who deviates from this path will have no place in my administration,” the governor stated.
He further assured the public that the legal process would proceed without interference, adding that his government would not condone any action capable of bringing it into disrepute or eroding public confidence.
The governor also urged the suspended aide to fully cooperate with the law and answer the serious allegations brought against him.
Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of all citizens, particularly women and vulnerable groups.
He also pledged to continue working with security agencies to ensure justice is served.
