Google recently released an unannounced update to Quick Share for Windows, the app that lets users connect Android smartphones to Windows computers. It now has easier file transfers and other improvements.
It allows owners to move files between an Android smartphone and a Windows computer at reasonable speeds without the two having to be on the same Wi-Fi network. The update allows you to use Quick Share through a Wi-Fi connection even if the PC is not connected to its primary network. However, users can tether their phone and make a hotspot, and then, move to their PC to connect to the hotspot. This way, any person should be able to enjoy a transfer speed of data that should be similar to that achieved by a direct WLAN connection. Such speeds vary between 30 MB/s and 110 MB/s, based on the devices and the setting in which these are used. This isnāt very helpful if the user is outside their house, but it is very helpful if a user needs to switch quickly.

Nearby Share is now called Quick Share, but Quick Share is a rebranded update of Nearby Share and is interlinked with the Samsung feature of the same name. It became the single method to transfer files between two Android phones, tablets, Chromebooks, and Windows PCs, like AirDrop on Apple devices. QuickShare is an app that is available from its page at the Microsoft Store.
Previously, users would have to be signed into the same wifi network for the two to be synced. This was rather difficult to accomplish outside the home or through Wi-Fi. One of the solutions was to cast the PC to a public Wi-Fi network when the user was not in his house or Wi-Fi network. This is not a good thing to do and would compromise the lives of its users. That will always be Bluetooth transfer but that was slow. It could be as low as 60 KB/s, which makes it completely unusable. Typically, e-mailing the files to your e-mail or even uploading to a cloud to download at a PC is faster than that speed.
Another reason why Google will never release a big announcement with this update is that it makes things much easier for the users. However, this can be part of a general update of Googleās plans that the company has not yet revealed.
