Former Big Brother Naija star, Angel Smith, has addressed the public backlash that followed a viral video showing her in an intimate moment with an unidentified female companion.
The video, which made the rounds on social media, captured Angel and the woman in affectionate poses, including a scene where they appeared to be dancing closely. The footage drew mixed reactions online, with many social media users criticizing her perceived shift in sexual orientation.
In reaction to the uproar, Angel took to Snapchat to express her thoughts and assert control over her personal narrative.
“Mind you, THIS is my life, you people did not come upon some secret thing, I posted it MYSELF,” she clarified, indicating that the clip was intentionally shared and not leaked without her consent.

Challenging the judgment she has received, Angel questioned the priorities of those criticizing her while ignoring larger societal issues. She wrote: “Pedophiles are roaming on the street freely and the economy is in shambles but i should be sad because cuties juls called me a lesbian, its like the fuel price is not scary enough for yall.”

She also addressed the perceived hypocrisy among those criticizing her from a religious or moral standpoint, adding: “I’m sure you just lied yesterday or even just this last minute… you really think if you were to die today and a g@y person also died, God will exempt you from hell because your own sin is small?”

Angel continued by reaffirming her autonomy and values. “Its probably shocking but can you imagine that this is my life and I’m an adult and I can do whatever i like. And that shocking again, I am not homophobic and did you guys also know that because you think something is bad doesn’t mean the other person shares the sames beliefs as you? Did you guys also know that we will die one day and your opinions will be nothing more than a whisper caught in the wind?”

She concluded her message with a strong declaration of support for the LGBTQIA+ community.
“I love the gays and i love the girls, let me even apologixe for any part of my personality that prompted anyone to believe otherwise?? I am not homophobic, so sorry. Up rainbow abeg.”
