President Bola Tinubu has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will receive Nyesom Wike into its fold if he decides to join.
Tinubu gave this assurance on Tuesday while commissioning the Arterial Road N16 and other infrastructure projects in Abuja’s Katampe District.
Tinubu, who is Nigeria’s president and a top figure in the APC, spoke in a relaxed manner while acknowledging Wike’s contributions in his role as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He also made light remarks about Wike’s popular slogan during previous campaigns, which drew laughter from those present, including Wike himself.

Wike, a former governor of Rivers State, currently serves under the APC-led administration but remains a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He has attracted attention since backing Tinubu in the 2023 general election, even after failing to win the PDP’s presidential ticket and refusing to support its flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.
After Tinubu won the election, Wike accepted a ministerial appointment, a decision that widened the existing cracks within the PDP.
His open support for the president and repeated comments about leading Tinubu’s re-election campaign in Rivers State have caused further tension within the opposition.
The PDP, still struggling with internal problems after its loss in 2023, has continued to face questions about loyalty and unity.
Wike has remained vocal in his political moves, recently urging the party to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South.
He spoke on behalf of a group called “Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP,” pushing for fairness and reminding the party of its rules regarding meeting notices.
Wike’s position and open support for Tinubu continue to fuel speculation that his stay in the PDP may not last long.
Although he has not officially defected, both his words and actions suggest a growing closeness to the ruling APC.
