Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has reacted to reports that some leading figures in the Nigerian music scene have turned their backs on him.

The issue began after social media influencer, Tunde Perry, shared details of a private meeting he claimed to have attended.

According to him, some well-known music executives decided to distance themselves from Portable over what he described as repeated misconduct.

He also said the singer’s behaviour had created problems within the industry and made some established acts and executives more careful about helping new talents.

Perry further alleged that popular rapper and music boss, Olamide, had become reluctant to support rising artistes because of his past experience with Portable.

He recalled that Olamide once gave Portable a platform on the hit track Zazu, which brought him into the spotlight, but their relationship later turned sour.

In a video shared online, Portable reacted strongly to the claims.

He dismissed the idea that he had been blacklisted and questioned the authority of anyone who would attempt to stop his progress.

The singer said he does not rely on any particular executive or promoter to remain successful in the industry.

He stated that his fans are his main support system and insisted that they are enough to keep his career moving.

According to him, no group of industry figures can decide his fate because his success is not tied to their approval.

Portable also warned those he believes are working against him to stay away from him.

He maintained that he would respond if anyone tried to confront or challenge him.

The singer added that past assistance given to him should not be used as a tool to control or pressure him.

He said: “I am bigger than them. Who are those who want to blacklist me? I heard that Tunde Perry said Olamide and his circle of music executives called for me to be blacklisted. Are you guys my fans or my God? Are you the ones feeding me? I have my own fans. I am bigger than any person.

“Anyone who wants to help you will not stress you. Do not use the help you gave me in the past to pressure me. Are you the only one who has ever helped me? There are many people who supported me without stressing me. Why would you say they should stop playing my songs? Olamide, do not mess with me. If you mess with me, I will return the energy. Stay in your lane.”
