Asake becomes most-streamed artiste of all time on Spotify Nigeria

Nigerian music star Ahmed Ololade, widely known as Asake, has become the most-streamed artiste of all time on Spotify Nigeria.

The global streaming platform unveiled its top five most-streamed artistes in Nigeria as part of activities celebrating its fifth year of operations in the country. Asake secured the number one position on the prestigious list, with Wizkid and Seyi Vibez taking the second and third spots respectively.

Burna Boy ranked fourth on the chart, while Davido completed the top five.

Spotify also released its list of the most-streamed songs of all time in Nigeria. Asake again led the chart, as his track ‘Remember’ claimed the number one position.

Ayo Maff and Fireboy’s ‘Dealer’ followed at number two, while Fido’s ‘Awolowo’ came in third. Wizkid’s ‘Kese’ secured the fourth spot, and Asake’s ‘Lonely At The Top’ rounded off the top five.

Beyond Nigeria, Nigerian music also made a strong impression in other African markets. On Spotify Kenya, Ruger’s ‘Asiwaju’, Ayra Starr’s ‘Rush’, Fireboy’s ‘Bandana’, and Asake’s ‘Lonely At The Top’ ranked first, second, third and fifth respectively among the most-streamed songs of all time. Kenyan singer Bein’s ‘Inauma’ claimed the fourth position.

In Ghana, ‘Wotowoto Seasoning’ by Nigerian rapper Odumodublvck featuring Ghanaian star Black Sherif emerged as the most-streamed song of all time on Spotify. Asake’s ‘Lonely At The Top’ placed second, while Black Sherif occupied the third, fourth and fifth spots with his songs.
