Asake discloses how people took him for granted due to humility

Ololade Ahmed, a Nigerian music superstar who is better known as Asake has disclosed how he was taken for granted due to his humility.

Since his mainstream emergence in 2022, the Nigerian singer-songwriter has become one of the bestselling artistes in the entertainment industry.

In a video making the rounds on social media, Asake, while chatting with a group of friends, stated that it is better to be egoistic than to be ā€œtoo humble,ā€ as he emphasized that excessive humility often brings disrespect.

Speaking from experience, Asake said that when someone is egoistic, people feel the person is inaccessible and place more value on the person.

He said: ā€œTo me, humility is like a waste of time. People donā€™t appreciate it. At the end of the day, life is about your perception. That is how I think. Itā€™s my world.

ā€œIā€™ve been around people, that I tried to let them say who I am but they didnā€™t appreciate it. As an artiste, if you come to somewhere, if youā€™re humble, they will take you for granted. But if you have ego, they feel like youā€™re not accessible so they will like you more. People would rather see what youā€™re doing than you showing them humility. So, just do what you need to do.ā€
