U20 WC: Atiku hails Nigeria’s Flying Eagles for zoom into knockout stage

Nigeria’s former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated Nigeria’s U-20 national team, Flying Eagles, for advancing into the knockout stage of the ongoing 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup. 

Flying Eagles on Wednesday evening booked the knockout stage spot after beating Italy 2-0 at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in their second group D game with Salim Fago and Jude Sunday goals.

The presidential candidate of the People Democratic Party, PDP, in the February 25th election, encouraged the team to keep flying.

Atiku via his Facebook page commended the team for winning their two opening games. 

Atiku wrote; “Two games. Two wins. Keep flying, Nigeria’s team, to the U-20 World Cup. -AA 👏👏 #U20WC.”

The Flying Eagles began their campaign on Sunday with a comeback 2-1 victory over the Dominican Republic in their opening match at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Nigeria’s team headed by coach Ladan Bosso was placed in the same group as Italy and five-time champions Brazil.
