Ayra Starr accused of being mannerless for shaking hands with music icon, King Sunny Ade (VIDEO)

According to a certain social media commentator, the mother of Nigerian singer-songwriter, Ayra Starr hadn’t been wooed when the legendary music artiste, King Sunny Ade gained global prominence in the 70s.

The 21-year-old singer-songwriter, Ayra Starr whose real name is Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe has come under fire on the microblogging site, Twitter (otherwise known as X) for failing to acknowledge Yoruba culture and values.

The songstress who is signed to Don Jazzy’s record label is being dragged for shaking hands with the iconic musician, King Sunny Ade, one of the most sensational artistes to emerge from the Yoruba tribe in Nigeria.

In the video, Ayra Starr shook hands with KSA (as King Sunny Ade) is fondly called, prior to that she failed to greet Burna Boy‘s mother, Abosede Ogulu, however, it was later deciphered that she actually shared a heartwarming peck with African Giant’s mother. Specifically, Ayra Starr was expected to either genuflect before the legendary artiste or bow; disappointingly, she did none.

Hours after Ayra Starr was called out on social media, she went to her official Twitter account to explain what transpired in the above scene.

In her statement, she dubbed the legendary music icon, King Sunny Ade, “uncle”, a term that predominantly infuriated her audience.

“Iā€™m so sorry , I had just walked in and all the lights and nerves didnā€™t let me see but i came back around to greet everyone properly, I have never been that girl to be disrespectful, Iā€™m a proper Yoruba girlllll and the video didnā€™t start until after Iā€™d greeted burnaā€™s mom ! Iā€™m very sorry to the legend, uncle and King Sunny Ade”
