Ousmane Dembélé has won the 2025 Men’s Ballon d’Or after leading Paris Saint-Germain to their first Champions League crown. Aitana Bonmatí has claimed a record third consecutive Women’s Ballon d’Or.
The 69th Ballon d’Or ceremony took place at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on 22 September, recognising standout performers from the 2024-25 season.
Dembélé, 28, became the sixth Frenchman to win the men’s prize. He scored 35 goals and supplied 14 assists, spearheading PSG’s domestic and European dominance.
His switch to centre-forward under coach Luis Enrique changed his output. He netted decisive goals in the Champions League knockout stages and collected Ligue 1 Player of the Year honours.
Bonmatí, 27, achieved an unprecedented treble of Ballon d’Or wins. She helped Barcelona to a domestic treble and was named Player of the Tournament at UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.
Spain fell to England in the final, Bonmatí’s impact justifies her place among the all-time greats of the women’s game.
Youth and goalkeeping brilliance
Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, 18, retained the Men’s Kopa Trophy after scoring 21 goals with 25 assists across all competitions. Vicky López, 19, has won the inaugural Women’s Kopa Trophy.
Also, goalkeepers were honoured. PSG’s Gianluigi Donnarumma collected his second Men’s Yashin Trophy, while Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton has become the first Women’s Yashin winner after EURO 2025 heroics.
