The Bayelsa State Government has announced Friday, January 30, as the date for the burial of the late Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.
The announcement was made during the 179th meeting of the State Executive Council presided over by Governor Douye Diri in Yenagoa.
Diri said the burial date was jointly approved by the family of the deceased, the state government and the Catholic Church.
He noted that the four-day burial programme will commence on Tuesday, January 27, with sporting activities, and continue on January 28 and 29, before culminating in the funeral service and interment on Friday, January 30, in Ofoni, Sagbama Local Government Area of the state.

The governor appreciated the people of Bayelsa for their support and solidarity with his administration during challenging times, and invited residents to participate in the various activities lined up for the burial.
Meanwhile, Diri also received two awards in recognition of his leadership and support for key institutions.
The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria honoured him for sponsoring its annual general meeting in the state, while the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria conferred on him an award for Exceptional Leadership.
The awards were presented on the governor’s behalf by the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Ebieri Jones, who represented him at the respective events.
The News Round The Clock (NRTC) gathered that the deputy governor died on 11 December 2025 at the age of 60.
