German giants FC Bayern Women have officially announced the signing of Edna Imade, one of Nigeria’s most promising football exports, from Spanish side Granada CF.

The 24-year-old striker, who emerged as one of the brightest stars in the Spanish Liga F last season, has penned a long-term contract until June 30, 2029.

However, Bayern have opted to immediately send Imade on loan to Spanish top-flight club Real Sociedad. It is a move designed to sustain her momentum and accelerate her development in a competitive league.

Imade, who couldn’t hide her excitement, described the transfer as a “dream come true.” She noted that joining one of the most iconic clubs in the world is a testament to her years of dedication and hard work.

According to her, Bayern’s rich history and strong football culture make it a perfect environment for her continued growth.

Bayern’s bet on brilliance – Imade’s rise too loud to ignore

Last season, the Nigerian forward made headlines after a phenomenal campaign in Spain. Not only did she finish as joint-second top scorer alongside Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas, but she also bagged 16 goals and 1 assist in 29 league appearances – a form that earned her the Liga F Player of the Month award in December and a spot in the Team of the Season.

While celebrating her versatility, Imade highlighted that she can operate effectively both as a centre-forward and out wide. She further described herself as strong in aerial duels, clinical in front of goal, and fiercely committed to team play – qualities that align with Bayern’s pressing, physical, and attack-minded philosophy.

Meanwhile, Bayern Women’s sporting director, Bianca Rech, was full of praise for the Nigerian attacker. She lauded Imade’s power, pace, and flexibility in the final third. Rech also noted that her all-round attacking profile is precisely what the club is looking to nurture.

As Rech explained, the decision to loan her out was reached in collaboration with Imade and her team to ensure continuity in her upward trajectory.

“We’re really looking forward to her future at the club,” Rech said.

“She’s ambitious, open-minded, and hungry to grow—which is why we’re convinced she’ll bring a lot of excitement to Bayern in the years to come.”

Prior to her standout year at Granada, Imade had impressed at Malaga CF, steadily building her reputation as a consistent and hard-working forward.
