In the 15th minute, 26-year-old Norwegian defender Andreas SchjĆølberg Hanche-Olsen scored, to the shock of Dortmund faithfuls. Four minutes later, the home side were presented an opportunity at redemption but SĆ©bastien Haller lost his penalty.

To send the Signal Iduna park into further disappointment, Karim Onisiwo scored Mainz’s second. It was absolutely unbelievable to witness.

Never had Dortmund’s hope of claiming the Bundesliga title been so high in the last eleven years. The stadium had been filled up two hours before kickoff and the fans were even set for a festival.

The home fans were getting dejected after Dortmund went 2-0 behind, with Bayern already leading 1-0 against Cologne. Kingsley Coman has given the reigning champions the lead eight minutes into the encounter.

Meanwhile, the big news before the Dortmund-Mainz game was the absence of Real Madrid-bound Jude Bellingham from the starting lineup. The question about his absence form the lineup even became more obvious after BVB were down by two goals.
